On the train to Montserrat

On the train to Montserrat

This is Lynissa and Shelley on the train on our trip to Montserrat. Lynissa takes many self-photos on her trip. They come out quite nice!

Montserrat

Montserrat

Montserrat has been attracting pilgrims as long ago as anyone can remember. The first recorded building was a boys choir in the 13th century.

Although it was quite hazy the day we went, we could still see for hundreds of miles.

Entryway to sanctuary

Once you enter the sanctuary, you are not allowed to take photos. All the photos I took are outside of the entry to the basillica and the monestary.

Percebes

Percebes

Percebes are a shellfish with a long, soft body like the neck of a goose, hard shells at the top, and a 'foot' at the bottom that attaches them to rocks. They only grow on rocks exposed to heavy surf, and only grow in several parts of the world. They are highly sought after as a rare delicacy, savoured for their lovely texture and flavour which is somewhat like crab or lobster. They are also quite expensive - one order is 23 Euros! The waitress at the bar, though, gave Al one sample for free.
